Status Update

In case you were wondering how I was doing on my list, here is the update. I started working out more and going to the gym with my sister, and then the winter storm blasted through the mid-west. I have been in hibernation mode ever since.
So far I am behind on the progress for my list, but also behind at work. I've had two extra days off work (not that I'm complaining)and am going to have to really put in time before and after work in order to do well. If you didn't know I am working for a builder selling new home construction and am still doing interior design. Right now I am feeling completely overwhelmed and am wondering how I'm going to get back on track especially when the weather makes me want to curl up and go back to bed.
What do you do to get out of hibernation mode? I need some advice.

Number Ninety Four

It's official. I'm signed up for the Carew Tower Climb. It's The Fight For Air Climb which benefits the American Lung Association and is #94 on my list. The climb is 45 stories and 804 steps! I think I must be crazy!!

Yesterday, Ed and I decided to start training for the climb. Ed is not participating, just helping me train. His training consists of telling me to "keep your butt moving", "no, you can't have a biscotti". (It's a good thing I really love him) Anyway, after taking Aidan to school we drove downtown to the community college where I remember a particular stair well being 5 stories. We ran them 5 times, not even half of the complete climb and O..M..G my body hurts!! It's not so much my thighs, but my calves that are making it difficult to walk like a regular person today. Did I mention that the climb is February 20th?

On the plus side, I've been working out all week, so hopefully I can complete the climb, raise money for the American Lung Association, and get in great shape.

Pray for me, I need it!!

New Year, New Check Mark

And now a little blog about my list. (The reason this blog exists in the first place) I had hoped to get more items checked off my list than I did, but that's not how things went down. Just to recap, in 2010 I checked off:

#89 Do a zipline course
#88 Become vegan
#81 Be able to do the splits again (need to put it back on the list for 2011)

At 12:35pm on 12/31, I was reading speedily through the last few pages I had left of The Bible. (another item on my list) I was really hoping to have it completed before the ball dropped, but I did not finish until 1:47am on 1/1/11. In 1John I read a line that just fit me perfectly when I though about all my plans for 2011.

1John17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

Wow! I had been thinking of all the things I wanted to check off my list for me,but I hadn't been thinking about doing things for God's will. This one verse, really made me feel so much stronger about checking off the things on my list that are more for others, like #26 Volunteer regularly and #80 Build a house with habitat.
Here is a little preview of some of the things on my list that I will work toward this year. Some of them are just for me and some of them will benefit others.

#86 Read the Bible (completed 1/1/11)
#26 Volunteer regularly
#80 Build a habitat house
#39 Get in my best shape
#12 Run a half marathon
#38 Sky dive
#42 Get involved with a charitable organization part-time
#59 Teach Aidan to ride a bike
#61 Go on a hot air balloon ride
#63 Learn to sew
#74 Take a self-defense class
#76 Plant my own vegetable garden
#79 Go kayaking
#93 Start composting
#94 Complete the Carew Tower climb

There are many more items on my list I would like to also complete, but I am not ready to share, but for me in this new year I will be much more giving of myself to try my best to do God's will.

Goodbye 2010

Happy New Year Everyone!!

I spent my last day with 2010 thinking about all that had happened, when I realized that all in all it was a pretty uneventful year. At that realization I was at first a little disappointed. I had thought about how an entire 365 days had gone by and nothing tremendous really happened. When I thought about this a little bit more I realized 2010 being uneventful was really a blessing, and facebook help me put this into prospective.

Let me explain. I read through all the new updates from my friends on facebook and one by one was hit with all the adversities my friends had to face or are continuing to face in the new year. I am so blessed to have my family- happy, healthy, and thriving. I was also blessed with a job that I never had to even interview for. I even got a raise on Wednesday. I have a beautiful home that we are able to sleep peacefully in at night. We have been able to go to the grocery store and buy food for out family to eat healthy with out wondering how we were going to pay for it all.

In the past these things were not always true. My family wasn't always happy. We struggled with our jobs and that led to many sleepless night wondering how we were going to pay for our family to eat. I Praise The Lord for the many blessings we received this year, and pray for everyone who is struggling to be blessed in this new year.

Thank you God for 2010 being such and uneventful year!
